So it’s coming up at the end of the year, I still feel like it’s 2019! So I wanted to talk about what I have planned for the remainder of the year, what projects and tutorials I have planned and how I’m going to execute them. This might spill over into how my 2021 goals are going but it’s important to talk about them too. You can keep up to date on all of my projects as on work on them on my Instagram.

Below is a table of the projects (in order that I have to finish them) that I want to get finished before the end of the year. To be completely honest, I am not sure how many I will actually complete, but it will be an interesting rush towards the end. I would love to get the Mjolnir hammer finished because I want to try out some chrome painting for the hammer finish. I haven’t done any chrome painting yet so it will be tricky. But it is all practice for making some killer projects in the future.

Project Breakdown

Mando!

The Mandalorian helmet has been a challenge, curved surface modelling has never been my strong point but I think I have it in good shape to start the test printing. Then I just have to tackle the rest of the armour in the new year.

One of the goals I set myself this year was to design and print my own Mandalorian armour but I will be without a printer for the remainder of the year so unfortunately, I will have to push this into 2022. Sad!

But the helmet will be available soon on my Etsy store and my website store.

Mandalorian Helmet

Mjolnir!

The Mjolnir design is nearly complete. I am currently putting the hammer together in my shed. So far I haven’t had any issues with the assembly bar a little bit of sanding of some of the remaining support material. I have decided to add a new variation to the hammer pack. I will add a steel rod model, this will be more for a usable handle prop. The hammer is big, like really big and I think this will be a welcomed addition for those who want a stronger hammer. I have a lot of changes planned for the model, the outside is finished. but how the parts lock and strength each other, is something I have to work on.

One of my plans for 2022 is to start resin printing, so I will look at printing some of the more detailed parts in resin like the hammer pummel, which has a lot of detail.

Sora’s Key blade

Key Blade

Now, this was a project I’ve been wanting to tackle for a while, but I want to put my own twist on it. I’m going to design it fully in Blender and then practice sculpting on the handle. The handle will be a lot more decorative than shown which I’m hoping will be more appealing.

I will have 2 different designs, a plain normal key blade and a fully decorated and sculpted key blade. this might take a little longer but I’m excited to practise it and no doubt I will be pulling my hair out towards the end.

I want to start making my own versions of items, being more creative rather than just regurgitating and copying prop models. So buy creating both options for the key blade I think I will be able to do this.

Deku Mask

Deku’s mask from the anime My Hero Academia was another model that I want to design this year. With how the show is going I get more excited by each episode. I’ll start with this design and then move on to some of the other characters next year (I really want a pair of bakugo’s gauntlets). I have too many designs that I want to do.

Don’t forget Deku has a new mask design in the movie ‘World Hero Mission’, which I plan to make a led version for when he activates his quark. That will be in 2022!!!

Midoriya – World Hero’s Mission

X-Wing Helmet

X-Wing Helmet Render

Ahh the X-Wing helmet, this project snuck up on me, to be honest. I was watching ‘The Rise of Skywalker’ when got the sudden urge to model it. I spent probably two days getting it to its current stage, I have a lot left to do on it but it will probably have to wait until after Mando and Mjolnir.

I’m looking to try and do some proper painting on this model too, to try and get it to look like one from the movies.

Easier said than done.

Conclusion

So that’s my review for the remainder of the year, easy right. I hope you are as excited as I am to finish it out. I am may not be a professional in Blender yet but I see myself getting better every single time I open it up. Practice makes perfect. I am hoping that some of the projects I have planned will allow me to explore some new tricks and techniques Blender too.

I will be adding these models to my site and Etsy store over the coming weeks. If you would like to look at these 3D models, please see the links below to my site store and to my Etsy Page.
